Grandma Shirley's Recipe Box

My Grandma Shirley Carroll was a divine lady who wore the perfect lipstick to match every complete outfit she owned. She would smile at just about everyone and told the best stories. She was a true gem. She didn't really cook, but sure did enjoy food. Every Christmas or Thanksgiving meal she would be the last one to finish as she would be too busy talking and enjoying her dish with small bites.

Sadly my Grandma passed away due to Liver Cancer on 8/8/08. A day I will never forget. I lost a great grandma and friend. I was truly blessed with inheriting her China and her Recipe boxes. I could not ask for anything more as I knew how much these two items meant to her.

I decided to start pulling some recipes from her boxes, seeing her handwriting just makes me smile! I have yet to use any of her recipes that she has collected, I don't know why, I just haven't.

What better way to carry out my Grandmas love for food then sharing and re-creating her recipes with you all?! So I am going to start a new series called "Grandma Shirley's Recipe Box" where I will be using one of my Grandma's recipes, cook it and share it. I hope you will enjoy this fun adventure as much as I will!

Cheers to my new fun cooking journey in memory of my sweet Grandma Shirley!
