Family Fun: Hollywood Wax Museum

Get dressed! Get in the Car! We are headed to see the STARS!
We are going to HOLLYWOOD!

My boys have never been down to Hollywood, so that needed to be fixed. It was the perfect Sunday family fun trip to take. So many cool and exciting things to do and see in Hollywood. We started by hitting the super entertaining and beyond radical Hollywood Wax Museum! Talk about interacting with the stars up close and personal..kind of creepy they look so real!

We entered the Hollywood Wax Museum and immediately were star struck. The boys LOVED seeing all the movie stars and wanted their photos with them all! So let me back up and give you some interesting history on this Wax Museum.

The Hollywood Wax Museum is the longest-running wax museum in the United States. It has been the most visited indoor attraction in Hollywood since 1965. Plans are in the works to celebrate the Museum’s 50th Anniversary in 2015.

Did you know that the Hollywood Wax Museum in Hollywood opened in 1965? It sure enough did! I had no idea!  It is located in the building that back in the early 1930s housed The Embassy Club, an exclusive entertainment industry nightclub. Crazy!

Let's talk about the Stars. Each wax figure is a piece of art. Over time and currently, the Hollywood Wax Museum has worked with numerous sculptors, mold makers, and finishers to create life-like wax figures. Stylistic differences occur depending on which artists crafted the figures. These babies were super realistic looking. My boys made a joke that it would be pretty spooky at night time in the museum. Of course thinking of the possibilities of each wax figure coming to life!

I would say the reason I/we Loved this Hollywood Wax Museum was because it was designed for interaction. Rather than walking by and just looking, visitors are encouraged to walk into the open sets and take photos with the figures. You don't have to tell us twice..whatch out we are getting our interaction on like donkey kong!

So if you are ever in the area of Hollywood, and looking for things to do, make sure you check out this fun Hollywood Wax Muesum. I included this in my top 6 attractions in Southern California post..because it's that awesome! Take some funky photos with your favorite stars, laugh and interact. The boys enjoyed it, I enjoyed it..overall we had a blast and can't wait to go back!

  10. This looks like so much fun!! It's not realistic for my family of 7 to make it out to Hollywood, but we are planning a trip to Branson and I just saw they have a location there. We will DEFINITELY have to check it out while we're there. Love your cute pictures, too! :)

  11. I have never been to a wax museum, ok so the one next to the escalator by the Venetian in Vegas doesn't count. But it looks so fun! Cute family photos of you all.
