DIY Chalkboard Medicine Cabinet

Holy Smokes... a Blog Post? Yes-- finally! I tell you what guys, I have been having a hard time balancing my little act over here! Trying to find the blog/housework balance- so I told myself No writing a blog post UNTIL laundry and chores are done... TADA! Here I am! It feels so nice having the house in order, now if I can keep it that way for a week we will be so good!

So real quick, last week I made these chalkboard kitchen canisters and love them! My mind started wandering like a lost puppy and with a paint brush in hand I found my way into the boys bathroom!

Today I am showing you a quick, fun and easy way to give your plain old ugly medicine cabinet a pop of paint, custom pizazz and heck your kids may just brush their teeth {with that written reminder!}

Supplies:
Painters tape
Chalkboard Paint
Paint Brush
Chalk Marker

I have found using a magic eraser works great in wiping down the chalk marker when you need to change it up. {wipe gently}

Now what can I paint next?!

  4. What a great idea Jen! And cool idea to help boys aim better and help kids remember to brush their teeth. I need to get me some of that chalk paint :)

  7. This is so awesome but what if my boys can't read yet??? Am I destined to pee-pee floors until age 6? ;)

  9. Don 't you hate it when housework gets in the way of creating and blogging. We're up to our eyeballs right now with drywall dust as we work on the kitchen and there's nothing to blog about except the mess that surrounds me.

    Great little project, by the way. Now get back to vacumming.

  11. Excellent idea, and some days I'd rather look at a chalkboard on the front too than my reflection.

  14. Awesome! I love this idea! Do you think my landlord would notice if I did this? I'm a little slow...I didn't get the "aim" saying right away (I only have one boy) but when I did I almost spit my drink out! Thanks for the laugh!

  15. I just tried this and the 1st coat and the 2nd were very glossy and didn't seems to set well. Also it seemed to peel off the metal. How long did you wait to do the 2nd coat after the 1st? Did you sand or use a primer? I've read that would help. Any tips would help me tons! Thanks
